A full landscape build-out for a commercial property, combining low-maintenance planting with clean hardscaping suited to daily foot traffic.
The Challenge
The grounds around this commercial property had been treated as an afterthought for years — a strip of thin lawn and a few overgrown shrubs along the entrance, with no real design intent behind any of it. The property manager wanted grounds that reflected well on the business and held up to daily foot traffic, without requiring a maintenance budget suited to a private garden.
The Solution
We built the layout around durability first — hardier, lower-maintenance plant varieties chosen specifically for their tolerance of foot traffic, vehicle exhaust near the parking areas, and inconsistent watering schedules typical of a commercial setting. Clean hardscape paths were laid out to direct movement naturally toward entrances rather than letting people cut across planted areas.
Plant palettes were kept consistent across the whole property so entrances, walkways, and the parking perimeter all read as one coordinated design rather than disconnected patches of green. Irrigation was zoned to match sun exposure across the different sides of the building, reducing water waste compared to the single blanket schedule that had been used before.
The Result
The property now presents a consistent, well-kept appearance year-round with a fraction of the ongoing attention the previous setup required. Foot traffic moves naturally along the new pathways instead of wearing dirt tracks through the lawn, and the grounds now actually contribute to how the business is perceived by everyone who walks in.
