Commercial Landscape

A full landscape build-out for a commercial property, combining low-maintenance planting with clean hardscaping suited to daily foot traffic.

The Challenge

The grounds around this commercial property had been treated as an afterthought for years — a strip of thin lawn and a few overgrown shrubs along the entrance, with no real design intent behind any of it. The property manager wanted grounds that reflected well on the business and held up to daily foot traffic, without requiring a maintenance budget suited to a private garden.

The Solution

We built the layout around durability first — hardier, lower-maintenance plant varieties chosen specifically for their tolerance of foot traffic, vehicle exhaust near the parking areas, and inconsistent watering schedules typical of a commercial setting. Clean hardscape paths were laid out to direct movement naturally toward entrances rather than letting people cut across planted areas.

Plant palettes were kept consistent across the whole property so entrances, walkways, and the parking perimeter all read as one coordinated design rather than disconnected patches of green. Irrigation was zoned to match sun exposure across the different sides of the building, reducing water waste compared to the single blanket schedule that had been used before.

The Result

The property now presents a consistent, well-kept appearance year-round with a fraction of the ongoing attention the previous setup required. Foot traffic moves naturally along the new pathways instead of wearing dirt tracks through the lawn, and the grounds now actually contribute to how the business is perceived by everyone who walks in.

Avenue Plantation

Mature shade trees lined along an entrance avenue, planted and staked for long-term growth and a polished first impression.

The Challenge

The entrance road leading up to the property was bare and exposed — no shade, no sense of arrival, and a stretch of compacted roadside soil left over from construction that wasn’t going to support healthy tree growth without real intervention. The client wanted a mature, finished-looking avenue without waiting decades for randomly placed trees to fill in unevenly.

The Solution

We started below the surface, breaking up the compacted soil along the full length of the road and correcting drainage so water wouldn’t pool around the root zones after rain. Species selection focused on trees suited to the local climate and eventual canopy spread, chosen so mature trees wouldn’t crowd each other or the road itself years down the line.

Spacing was set out and marked along the entire avenue before a single tree went in the ground, so the planting would read as one continuous, evenly spaced line rather than drifting out of alignment partway down. Each tree was staked and secured to handle wind exposure while its root system established.

The Result

The entrance now has the presence it was missing — a consistent, evenly spaced line of trees that immediately changes how the property reads on arrival. With proper soil preparation done upfront, the avenue is positioned to mature into full canopy cover over the coming years instead of struggling against the compacted ground it would have been planted into otherwise.
